KZN SHARKS BOARD HOSTS SABC TRAVEL TRENDZ SHOW SUMMER 2021

The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board Maritime Centre of Excellence (KZNSB) is mandated to be a global leader in bather protection against shark incidents while minimizing environmental impact, thus promoting tourism in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

The KZN Sharks Board has employed various safety gear on the coastline of the KZN province, this safety gear comprises of shark nets and or drumlines. The main purpose of the safety is to ensure the safety of the visitors or beach goers who flock to the province of KZN to enjoy its beautiful and warm beaches.

Beach tourism is major contributor to the growth of the economy of the KZN province, visitors will book into hotels, book transport transfers, shop at malls whilst in the province of KZN, this creates employment opportunities for the youth of the province and boosts the economy of the province. The KZN Sharks Boards plays a vital role in the growth and promotion of KZNs beach tourism.

The Board is the only organisation of its kind in the world, the Board boasts of a world-renowned research institution that has made major contributions towards the research of marine education which includes shark education.

The KZN Sharks Board continually raises awareness on marine education in previously disadvantaged communities also providing career guidance to school learners from the previously disadvantaged communities.

Programs used to raise awareness on marine education include:

  • Audio Visual & Shark Dissection Shows
  • Educational early morning boat tours

The Board hosted SABC Travel Trendz crew who filmed the KZN Sharks Board crew whilst they were meshing the shark nets during the educational early morning boat tours.This hosting was aligned with the Boards revised marketing strategy  which is themed "Arise" . With this theme the Boardhas embarked on such interactive engagements that seek to promote the entity.
